Please schedule childhood properly
Dear parents,
I think we have been trying to build childhood with big one-off deployments. Theme parks. Expensive birthdays. Holidays that require spreadsheets.
Unfortunately children seem to have aggressive garbage collection and delete most of it.
What survives are recurring jobs.
A kid-in-charge day every few months. A Friday to fix one broken thing together. A ridiculous family password before scary moments. A mistake celebrated instead of treated like a production outage. A wall where everyone posts a weekly win.
Nothing fancy. Just small tasks running on a reliable schedule.
Apparently this is how “home” gets installed. Not through one major release, but through boring little routines that say: we do this here, together.
The best part is that most cost almost nothing, which is deeply inconvenient for the family-experience industry. You cannot sell a premium subscription to a hug sandwich. At least not yet.
Pick one tradition. Run it again. Kids may roll their eyes, but the logs are being written somewhere.
